Meet the Photographer
I thought it would be fitting if my first official blog post was to introduce myself, the girl behind Meraki Photography. I know when I have chosen a photographer for myself, or my family, I always want to know if they will be a good "fit". So, hello, my name is Lisa Aamot. I was born and raised in Bellingham. Just north of Seattle in the beautiful PNW. I grew up with 7 older brothers. Yes, you read that correctly. I married the first boy I dated...because well, 7 brothers. I have always been told I'm an old soul. I love all things from decades past, including the people that lived it. I love to laugh and adventure, and only use a filter when necessary. I value friendships and relationships. I value love and marriage. I value people, and the legacies they leave. Without further ado, here is a quick way to get to know some more about me!
Do you have kids? I have a son in the midst of the wonderful "terrible twos", and a baby girl that is growing too fast (3 months).
If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself? If I liked adventure and a spontaneous spirit, of course!
Do you use sarcasm a lot? Do I ever! When used with tact, it makes me instantly like a person.
What’s the first thing you notice about people? Their body language. More people should pay attention to this. It is a great window into a person.
Scary movie or happy endings? Happy endings. I'm a sucker for a good comedy too.
Favorite smells? Fresh babies. This is a new discovery about myself.
What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home? The Dominican Republic, honeymoon. Highly recommend!
Do you have any special talents? As a child I was trained in piano and opera. As an adult my greatest talent is probably my ability to multi-task. Thank youuuu motherhood.
Where were you born? Born and raised in the PNW So I mostly do Seattle weddings, and surrounding areas (Bellingham Weddings too of course!)
Guilty pleasures? A good book and a glass of red.
Do you have any pets? I am the proud co-owner of the world's worst dog, Taylor. She is all about Kyle, and has a knack for ignoring me.
Do you have any siblings? I have seven older brothers. You read correctly. And some very wonderful sister in laws, thank goodness.
What do you want to be when you grow up? Eventually I will complete my master's in teaching, but I'm pretty in love with photography.
Who was your first best friend? Stephani Clausen. PS if you have a lifelong friendship, or a fun loving tribe, let's capture it!! They are the best sessions, and I always leave smiling.
How many countries have you visited? Four...so let's add to that and go somewhere stunning! Destination weddings are always so beautiful and intimate.
What is your Favorite drink? I'll never turn down a coffee, or a bottle of vino. Coconut lattes are my jam, but in the summer an iced americano with white chocolate and cream is where it's at.
Thoughts on marriage? Value it! Fight for it! I love seeing that can't eat, can't sleep, love, but I know there will be days it is just not that simple.
What do you love? My little family, my village of family and friends, motherhood, laughing to my guts hurt, road trips, spontaneous adventures, getting lost with my Husband, a good girls night.
If you could move anywhere tomorrow? Definitely somewhere with a beach and palm trees. Hawaii would be dreamy, just for a couple of years.
Any quarks? At a wedding you will always find me with tears streaming during the father daughter dance. At some point on your big day, I'll probably cry...just a little. Also I think grandparents/old people are the cutest ever.
